Our Purpose

Lewis Lane Baptist Church exists to Love God, to Learn His Ways, and to Bring People into a Relationship with Jesus Christ as We Celebrate Life Together!

This purpose is based upon two very important scripture passages:
The Great Commandment: Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
The Great Commission: Jesus came saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
In these two passages we find our purpose and the five functions of the church.
† To "Love God with all your heart" is "WORSHIP"
† To "Love your neighbor" is "MINISTRY"
† To "Go and make disciples" is "EVANGELISM"
† To "Baptize them" is joining in "FELLOWSHIP"
† To "Teach them" is "DISCIPLESHIP"
Therefore, as you look to see what Lewis Lane Baptist Church (LLBC) is all about you see it like this;
L - Loving God: Worship
L - Learning His Ways: Discipleship
B - Bringing People into a Relationship with Jesus Christ: Missions/Evangelism
C - Celebrating Life Together: Fellowship
