In a recent address at the Zimbabwe Charity Dinner in Harare, Chamisa expressed his concerns about ZANU-PF's proposed plan to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa's term until 2030. He described this idea as "reckless political theater" and warned of potential dire consequences for the nation.
"Next year is a pivotal moment for Zimbabwe," Chamisa emphasized. "We, the people, will mobilize and organize ourselves. ZANU-PF cannot make decisions on our behalf, especially when it comes to matters of national importance."
Chamisa further highlighted the power of the people, stating, "They might rush through an amendment in Parliament, but it holds no real weight. This country belongs to its citizens, and we will not stand for any attempts to undermine our constitutional rights."
However, not everyone shares Chamisa's optimism. Critics argue that his words carry little weight, pointing to the contrasting treatment of events organized by Chamisa and those led by Job Sikhala, an outspoken opposition figure. Sikhala's events, including his book launch and birthday celebrations, faced disruptions from authorities, raising questions about the true nature of Chamisa's influence.
