The Manhattan Mercury has reported that the official announcement is expected this week, though a press conference hadn't been scheduled as of early Wednesday. But, sources say the shift will be happening very soon.
Klieman, at 58 years old, just wrapped up his seventh season with the Wildcats, boasting a respectable record of 54-37. He led the team to a Big 12 Championship victory in 2022. The Wildcats are also heading to a bowl game this year, after a 6-6 regular season.
Before his time in Manhattan, Klieman was a force at North Dakota State, where he secured an impressive four national titles in just five seasons.
Now, let's talk about the incoming coach. Collin Klein, 36, is currently the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M, where he's been for the past two seasons. Before that, he held the same position under Klieman at K-State. And this is the part most people miss... Klein is a true K-State legend! He quarterbacked the Wildcats to a Big 12 title in 2012 and was a Heisman Trophy runner-up that year. His name is etched in the Ring of Honor at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
