The construction of Lakeshore Lodge is making significant strides as the cabins and overhangs are now outfitted with roofs. This progress comes on the heels of a recent aerial update that showcased the ongoing developments at this exciting Disney project.
Lakeshore Lodge, which is set to be a part of the Disney Vacation Club, is being constructed adjacent to the Fort Wilderness Resort, on the site that once housed River Country, right across from the now-abandoned Discovery Island in Bay Lake. Scheduled to open its doors in 2027, this resort aims to draw inspiration from the grandeur of nature and the lasting impact it has had on Disney’s creative minds.
Guests visiting the area will have the chance to catch glimpses of the construction both from the monorail and while riding the water taxi that connects Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
During our reporter's latest visit, the progress on the A-frame cabins was particularly striking. Over the past few weeks, crews have been diligently framing these structures along the shores of Clementine Beach. The angular overhangs, previously just skeletal frames, have received their roofing, enhancing the visual appeal of the design, which echoes the porte cochere style.
Day by day, the construction of the resort wing visible from the vicinity of Fort Wilderness is becoming increasingly complete. Notable advancements include the installation of sheathing, the framing of overhangs, and roofing. The A-frame cabins closest to the main lodge are now fully roofed, with glass windows already installed in several units.
Additionally, balconies and windows have been fitted into the resort wing that faces Fort Wilderness, with roofing over the overhangs also completed. The concrete work in this section appears nearly finalized, which is an encouraging sign for the overall timeline of the project.
Construction continues on the striking angular entrance porte cochere, which is currently undergoing further concrete reinforcement. This spacious covered area is designed to facilitate vehicle passage, making it more convenient for guests checking in and out.
Scaffolding has taken shape around a corner tower, which features a substantial roof overhang, visible from Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness. Crews have also been busy installing stairways, contributing to the growing structure.
The cabins lining Clementine Beach have seen an addition of wood and steel frameworks, so we anticipate that roofing will soon follow in this area as well. Meanwhile, the lakeside wing remains shrouded in scaffolding, where a barge with a crane was last observed in our previous update.
For context, here's a broader perspective showing how the cabin frames relate to the main lodge. The barge on Bay Lake, which previously accommodated the crane, has now been relocated towards the center of the building and currently supports a cherry picker.
This area looks like it might serve as a patio for a future restaurant or lounge, providing stunning views of Bay Lake through tiered overhangs that may transform into dining spaces featuring floor-to-ceiling windows.
The A-frame cabins are designed in rows flanking either side of the main resort, and recently, crews have added more support structures and intricate wood details to enhance the architectural charm. It’s estimated that there will be at least 20 cabins throughout the resort, creating a cozy yet spacious environment.
As the lakeside wing of the Lakeshore Lodge prepares for concrete sheathing, it is nearing completion with most of its balconies and windows already in place.
