Ready to step into style without breaking the bank? New Balance is kicking off 2026 with a fresh batch of colors for its sleek 204L sneaker!
Launched in July 2025, the New Balance 204L is making waves as a wallet-friendly alternative. It offers a similar streamlined look to the high-end $1,220 530 SL, a collaboration with Miu Miu. This means you can get the coveted slim-soled style without the hefty price tag.
On a recent Friday, New Balance unveiled four exciting new colorways for the 204L, alongside restocks of popular sold-out styles. The fresh options include NB Navy/Salt Water (style code U204L67Q), Black/Magnet (style code U204L5WZ), Gray Matter/Shipyard (style code U204L86W), and a standout Cortado/Stone Pink (style code U204L273) featuring a tonal mesh base.
But that's not all! They've also brought back the Timberwolf/Linen and the original Mushroom/Arid Stone colorways, both still available in select sizes.
The 204L perfectly blends the past and the present. According to New Balance, it combines the brand's 2000s design with the iconic style of the 1970s. It takes the slim profile from '70s running shoes and adds modern materials and overlays, giving it a unique Y2K vibe.
"It was a true collaborative effort working alongside our product manager, developer, and team of designers to bring this model to life. The [204L] shoe is designed to stand out from other New Balance models with this convergence of two different eras, set to be released in unique materials and colorways," said Pierome Sar, senior designer at New Balance.
Thin-soled sneakers were a massive trend in 2025, and they're expected to stay popular. While there might be some early signs of the market getting tired of the style, these low-profile designs are still highly sought after.
Want to snag a pair? Each of the new 204L styles is available now on newbalance.com for $120 each, with a wide range of sizes.
