Carol Marie Septon-MacKenzie (1944-2025)

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Carol Marie Septon-MacKenzie’s passing on December 27, 2025, at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on March 6, 1944, Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who exemplified warmth, generosity, and resilience. Her kind spirit and caring nature made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her life, she was deeply ingrained in the Antigonish community, consistently putting the needs of others before her own.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Rita (Duggan) MacNeil. She is survived by her loving sisters, Olive Mattie and Teresa (John) Oostvogles, who cherished their bond with her.

She leaves behind her beloved children: Darlene (Joey) van Oirschot, Stace Septon, Patrick (Cindy) Septon, and Sean Septon. Carol took immense joy in being "Nan" to her grandchildren, creating treasured memories through artistic projects, attending various sports events, and indulging in her passion for knitting. Her grandchildren include Colby (Nicole), Brea (Keagan), Tyler, Chloe (Karim), Noah, Maranda, Samantha (Eli), and Holly. Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother to Elijah, Wyatt, Bonnie, Drew, and Isaac.

At the age of 81, Carol continued to embrace her work at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home as a casual employee, demonstrating her enduring dedication and love for her profession.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their extraordinary compassion and care during her final days.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Saint Andrews District Community Centre, located at 86 Pomquet River Rd., Antigonish, on Tuesday, December 30, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
